almost forgot a story i can tell abt my adventure with Martell Caramel.

the recipe i was referring to said to cook the sugar first, den take the pot away frm the fire, add wine, before cookin again.

Muddle-headed mi figured dat switchin off the fire wld be the same as takin the pot out of the fire in terms of heat. so i switched off the fire, added the martell into the pot, n switched on the fire.

tadaaa!!! VOILA! u get the fire frm the stove, n u get another fire burning within the pot, on the surface of the sugar. and so i saw my pot of sugar and martell mixture burnin, between stove n alcohol.. the fire was quite high.

dat was when i realised dat mayb the instructions of takin the pot off the fire before addin the alcohol was to prevent exactly this frm happenin.. coz switchin on the fire usually results in a big flare before it settles dwn to the tenacity u wan.

a very close shave huh.. imagine wat wld have happened if i was peerin over the pot when i switched the fire on. lolx.. turns out wat happened was mi looking helplessly at the twin fires, mentally debating wat to do, wondering whether it'll burn itself out, n being amazed at wat i managed to set off. hahahaaa..

in the end, i decided dat 250ml of martell will take a long time to burn out, n it might result in my caramel getting burnt into black sugar crystals or worse-carbon. in fact, i was very worried about my caramel. so i switched off the fire frm the stove, n found a very huge lid to cover the entire pot. i'm smart. the fire died immediately. =)

yep.. 250ml of martell. n someone found out i finished one of the opened bottles n the person left the empty bottle on the table. no doubt to question mi when there's a chance. :p

champagne in the late afternoon and evening is sheer luxury. along with a light n delicious homecooked meal to go with it, after a swim.

yay!! cooked sth again todae.

had champagne last nite n i got the idea of cookin rice todae. in white wine. =) so, in went the butter, garlic, onions, shitake mushrooms, cheese sausage, carrots. these were stir-fried before i added water, chicken stock cube, rice and lotsa white wine. liberal dashings of them.

the whole thing smelled heavenly while it simmered, thanx to the butter, garlic, wine and italian herbs. but the result looked abit slushy coz i added in abit too much water n stirred abit too much. lolx.. not the mention dat the eggs i added in further thickened the consistency of the very moist rice. so, no pics til i perfect it. :p

the taste was akin to baked rice without all the cheese topppin. so itz not too bad huh. and all this without a recipe to follow. muahahhaaa.. i'm zai.

searched for pics coz i forgot to take any. n this looked the closest to wat i made. except dat mine glistens with caramel sauce on it n this has maple syrup in a canister beside.

the banana pancakes n caramel sauce were successes. unfortunately, no pics of them coz the 4 guests i served them to finished their portions before i recalled wantin to take pics of the pancakes for my blog. so there goes. pics nxt time.

was looking thru caramel sauce recipes last nite n came across a Red Wine Caramel recipe. muahahahhaa.. i'm all for alcohol but knowing that my dad will kill mi if i use his red wine for my experiments, i subbed red wine with Martell. lolx.. coz i've got lotsa bottles of them at home. the caramel was sweet, sticky, liquid gold. =)

the pancakes had mi worried for awhile but i got the hang of making them after the first 3. pancakes with banana fillings. they went quite well together though i think i'll prefer my pancakes to be less dense and lighter/ fluffier. todae's were quite dense n it felt abit heavy to mi.

shall make them with chocolate sauce nxt time, as well as other fruits. mayb i can come up with a whole variety n bring them to sch for frens.

todae, on an impulse and due to shortage of ingredients, i peeled a potato for the first time.

i had to fill empty stomachs with 2 eggs, a packet of nuggets, 1 carrot, lotsa packets of dried shitake mushrooms, instant vermicili, 2 potatos. -_-lll wat a weird mash of ingredients.

so, out of desperation, i recalled watchin my cousins n grandparents prepare homemade fries made of potatos from scratch. dat was when i was in kindergarten so u can imagine wat a great adventure this was. n i've never peeled a potato or anything before.

anyway, it was a successful attempt. =) n it was quite fast n simple. muahahahaaa.. i've got untapped culinary talents. n so the meal consisted of fried nuggets n fries, with beautifully round n perfectly cooked sunny side ups. yay mi!

gonna try making banana pancakes and caramel sauce soon.

no idea y the food i cook tends to be on the bland side. :p

midterms r around the corner n i'm still feeling under the weather. n i have deduced that my health is directly related to how much water i guzzle everydae.

last week, my mum threw away my 1.5litre Evian bottle that i've been luggin to sch for the past 2 weeks. n i promptly fell sick. -_-lll running nose, bad throat, cough, heat flushes, heat rash, breakouts and dry peeling skin.. bring it on man!

but now dat i bought a replacement n have taken to lugging it everywhere for the past 2 daes, i'm like on the expressway to recovery. i think i'm made up of more than 70% water, perhaps more than the average human being, judging from my classmates who seldom drink water but r still healthy.

if onli i can replace the amount of meat i eat with fruits n veggie.. n if onli my mum will stop sabo-ing mi. mayb she wans mi dead. lolx..

Cat's stupid dae.. continued.

Cat went to meet up with Manda in AMK. had lunch together before Cat decided to hunt down a suitable top for her bro's tennis training. Whether it was out of sheer hope or stubborness, Cat naively thought that maybe she can get an okie one for her bro with $50. To no avail of coz.

Cat den accompanied Manda to the nail shop, n watched her get a pedicure and manicure. this was followed by the running of some errands with Manda before Cat ended up at Manda's house. there, she attempted to do some Sec 4 E-Maths questions that Manda's bro was doin. and realised that while they all looked familiar, she'd forgotten how to solve most of them due to her lack of interest in formulas.

Cat cabbed home n kept lookin at the piano. itz like a tiny treasure box. and now she's waiting for her hair to dry, n lamenting the fact dat lotsa people have been sayin she's soft recently.

Cat did alot of stupid things todae.

first, Cat decided to go to sch though she's down with flu and rapidly dying from it.
then, Cat decided to snip her fringe herself, and ended up with a short fringe dat makes her face looks chubbier than ever.
the stupidity of cuttin her fringe had another result. it made her late for class.
so, Cat finally got to sch. she was thinking that God was smiling upon her when the bus arrived immediately at her bus stop.
but when she got to class, she realised something was off. the classroom was dark and locked. so Cat called a friend who told her that the class was cancelled. -_-lll

so poor Cat was stuck in sch with no classes for the day, dyin frm a cold, feeling weak and helpless. lolx.. she remained in a state of shock and disbelief for about 15mins.

but the stupid lil' Cat was blessed todae in some ways. she received PROPER FLU MEDICATION, not lousy ole panadol. she got a ride home from sch, n received one of the most intricate and special presents todae. all from the same person. =)

a surefire way to get Cat sick: make mi slp late n wake up early, deprive mi of water n timely meals, expose mi to the harsh elements (aka, hot sun and cold aircon) for 1 entire dae. taddaaa!!

dunnoe if itz a subconcious effort to make up for yesterdae, but i skipped dinner todae. :p kept tellin myself mentally dat i'm over-eating when i'm not hungry. lolx..

i wan a threadmill so i can walk n walk nonstop in the comfort of my own hse, in front of the com. heard that itz been scientificallyproven that running til ur entire body hurts n u r blue in the face with wheezing lungs DOES NOT WORK TO BURN FAT. it burns carbohydrates. the report i heard goes on to sae that my usual method of walkin for at least 30mins at a fast but comfortable pace is the right way to exercise and most importantly, BURNS FAT! yay!!

goes to show i'm quite a genius. *smirks* i'm so happie i've nv pushed myself to run. =)

a super small pic.

had an assignment where i had to find out how Dad proposed to Mum. took the chance to find out everything, though i knew instinctively that there wasn't anything wildly romantic.

so my mum told mi dat after knowing my dad for about mayb slightly more than 1yr, he popped the qn n she said yes, coz he'd taken her to meet the parents n she felt that he's someone dependable and honest. so, they got engaged when she was 21, during her bdae party, got married when she was 22 and gave birth to mi when she was 23.

now, if i were to match her pace, i'm wayyyy behind schedule. n i envy her. becoz?


I'm tired of the dating game.


itz startin to feel like a rollercoaster that wouldn't end, the merry-go-round that wouldn't stop. i noe itz kinda like askin for too much, but i'm craving for a change in the pace of my life, a whiff of fresh air. sth that will shake things up n blow out the cobwebs n put everything in a shiny golden hue again.

sometimes, i don't mind the idea of just holding hands in the car, whizzing through traffic n letting life end there, suddenly, but on a high and sweet note. in fact, i like the idea.

any guy who reads this will probably freak.

went over to my nanny's hse juz nw.. dropped by to sae hi, n to see how they r doin.. my nanny cooked fried rice juz for mi, though they have eaten already, with her homemade chilli. =) itz a distinctive taste that i grew up with, hard to find anywhere else. haven't tasted her cookin for the longest time. now itz tinged with the nostalgia of childhood memories.

feeling extremely cranky lately. i'm like fresh out of conversation. every lil' thing seems to rub mi the wrong way, and i really kinda wanna take a break from people and obligations.

wanna throw everything into the wind, run away somewhere without a care for awhile. toss all the responsibilities and ties away, unburden myself. i feel weighed down and i'm getting rid of all excess baggage.

even if i am tied down, once in awhile i'll like to believe i'm not, if onli for awhile even if itz juz illusion.

4th anniversary yesterdae.

watched Ratatouille at Vivocity's Gold Class yesterdae, my treat. the movie was alrite.. was kinda expecting more after hearing all the raving reviews. well, it sure makes cookin looks interesting, and more difficult than i wanna be bothered with. the service was good. something that i can definitely get used to, though i doubt this will become a usual affair coz $30 for 1 ticket is still fairly steep for mi.

haa.. he felt like a star from the moment we stepped through the glass doors closing off the Gold Class area from the normal waiting area. =) personalised and attentive service all the way! sweeett.. he was smiling softly to himself all the while. lolx..

went for dinner at Earle Swensens after the movie. ordered steak for him, a baked rice for 2 to share, and a soup. we got a shock when the baked rice was served. it was definitely the biggest serving of rice i've ever seen, accompanied by giant serving utensils. (i took pictures but, itz gonna be tough for mi to upload coz no cable/bluetooth adapter/ micro SD card reader) the baked rice could have easily fed 5 people. -_-lll in the end, we cldn't finish it, onli managing to eat barely half of the baked rice, and asked for the rest to be bagged home. dinner was on him. =)

think heaven was on our side yesterdae. i booked the tics through phone booking and was supposed to collect it 30mins before the show. well, when we got there, there was a queue at the collection booth and some woman was holding up the line. when it got to us, it was abt 19mins before the show, n we were told that our tics have been released and dat onli seats in the first row were available. i was ready to turn face, throw a bitchfit at the staff and either leave or settle for watz available, when the auntie serving the counter suddenly said that there was 2 seats in the last row. yay!! needless to sae, we snapped it up n all was fine again.

and then before dinner, his aunt called and said they wun need him to pick them up, thus he could stay out earlier. =) our stars were in perfect alignment huh.

right.. saw the lights of the cable cars and the cruise ships. pretty! so, i'm gonna save up for sky dining nxt time, and mayb he'll whisk mi away on a cruise at the end of the year. who noes.. =)

so, met up with Ms Manda on Monday, like finally. :p passed her the very-late bdae present dat i got for her n marveled at her new haircut. itz the shortest she's ever gone but it looks gd. suits her personality n makes her look sassy n refreshed. think the long hair look was getting tired on her. n since i'm all for changes to hairstyles, i'm willing my hair to grow faster everydae. hahahaa.. the 2 of us r always at odds when it comes to physical appearances.

we had fun eatin, chattin n shoppin. it was funny when we held hands and people just looked at us weirdly. in short, she's like one of the most fun person to go out with. =)

anyway, the 21st bdae was kinda a flop coz.. it passed like juz another dae, except dat mayb usual daes were more fun instead. received a present and lotsa well wishes from the least expected places, which made mi extremely happie. hmmm.. any more belated presents r welcome too. presents r good. lolx..

right. so sch's started. feels like there's lotsa stuff to do or will have to be done in the near future. not exactly rubbin my hands in anticipation. but hopefully, i'll deal.

afterall, i always do. =)
